The ingredients to make seasoned frozen green beans.

Frozen Green Beans will work whether they are cut, french, or whole.

Butter will add flavor and help to pan fry frozen green beans.

Olive Oil adds health benefits while helping the beans cook.

Garlic Powder adds a delicious flavor that coats the sautéed green beans evenly.

Onion Powder brings the flavor of chopped onions and then some.

Salt helps to bring out the other flavors in the dish.

Black Pepper adds a little kick to this veggie side dish.

    How to Make It

Let me show you the best way to sauté frozen green beans. The printable recipe card with ingredient measurements is at the bottom of this post!

For best results thaw and dry the frozen beans before cooking. (You can skip this step, but you will need to increase the cooking time).

Heat the butter and olive oil in a medium skillet or sauté pan on medium heat.

Once the butter has melted, add the rest of the ingredients to the hot pan.

Pro Tip: If the green beans are still frozen, wait to add the seasoning until the green beans have thawed in the pan. This prevents the garlic and onion powder from burning.

    Recipe Tips & Tricks

    • If the green beans are still frozen, wait to add the seasoning until the green beans have thawed in the pan. This prevents the garlic and onion powder from burning.

    Storage and Reheating

    • Storage: Store in an airtight container for 3-5 days.
    • Reheating: Reheat in the microwave or in a pan on medium heat (you may need to add a splash of water to the pan).
    • Freezing: Drain the beans and pat them dry. Lay out flat on parchment paper and freeze for an hour before putting them into freezer bags.

    Substitutions

    • Fresh Garlic can be a substitute for garlic powder. Replace the garlic powder with two cloves of freshly minced garlic.
    • Extra Virgin Olive Oil, canola oil, avocado oil, or vegetable oil can replace the olive oil for these sauteed green beans.

    Variations

Have you ever wondered what are some uses for frozen green beans? Luckily, they are a super versatile vegetable that can be cooked and enjoyed in many different ways! Let me know what your favorite seasonings are for green beans.

    • Roasted Green Beans from Frozen: Toss the frozen green beans in the olive oil and seasoning and roast at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes.
    • Steaming Frozen Green Beans: Use a steamer basket and boiling water to steam the beans for 7-10 minutes. Once they are softened drain the water and add butter to the green beans. The spices in this recipe make a good steamed green beans seasoning!
    • Air Fryer Frozen Green Beans: Coat the green beans with melted butter, olive oil, garlic powder and onion powder. Add them to the preheated air fryer basket and air fry the frozen green beans at 390 degrees F for 8-10 minutes.
    • Italian Green Beans: Cut out the onion powder and add a little bit of Italian seasoning and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Add a little fresh grated parmesan cheese on top.
    • Asian Inspired: Add 1 teaspoon of soy sauce right as the beans are done cooking.
    • Fancy Green Beans: For a little crunch, add some almond slivers and a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to the green bean dish.
    • Green Bean Casserole: This dish uses a cream base and usually something crunchy on top.
    • Greek Beans: Use the seasoning and add ½ cup of crushed tomatoes and feta cheese to the beans.

Yes! You won't have the extra bit of flavor from the butter, but it will still be good.
